Juneteenth Sickle Cell Awareness and Trait Testing Event: A Resounding Success!
On June 22nd, 2024, Michelle's House proudly participated in the Juneteenth celebration at Dixwell Q-House in New Haven CT. Our team set up a tent and offered sickle cell trait testing, raising awareness and educating the New Haven community about this important health issue.
We were thrilled to have over 30 visitors to our tent, with 5 individuals interested in trait testing. Our Interns and volunteer nurses were on hand to answer questions and provide trait testing, and we distributed flyers and pamphlets to curious passersby.
This event highlighted the power of collaboration, community engagement, and education in promoting public health causes. We were grateful for the opportunity to connect with community members in our environs and raise awareness about sickle cell disease.
We also made valuable connections with other healthcare professionals who stopped by our tent to network and invite Michelle's House to future sickle cell events.
We are committed to building on this success as we look to future events, including our annual upcoming Walk/Run/Bike/Ride on the 21st of September 2024 at East Rock Park 41 Cold Spring St, New Haven CT. We will continue to improve our education and outreach strategies, enhance marketing and promotion, and develop more engaging materials and activities.
Thank you to everyone who made this event possible. We are proud to be part of this community and look forward to continuing to serve and support individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.
Let's keep moving forward together!
